A special thank you to September’s Fundraising Heroes

Another month has come and gone, and Christmas is right around the corner! But before we get too festive, let’s take a moment to reminisce on September’s highlights.

If we had to sum it up: Great North Run, a poorly helicopter, and loads of incredible fundraising!

Without further ado, let’s dive into what our amazing supporters were up to last month to help raise vital funds for our life-saving service.

From one paw to another

Our fundraiser Amanda recently had the pleasure of visiting the wonderful team at NFU Mutual in Morpeth (made even better by the presence of an adorable furry friend).

The firm has generously raised £3,254.50 for our charity, with exciting discussions of even more fundraising activities planned for the remainder of 2024 and into 2025.

Thank you for your amazing support, NFU Mutual!

Vroom vroom

Our fundraiser Amanda has been buzzing with activity this month!

Earlier, she made a trip to Berwick to visit the Berwick and District Motor Club, who have been hard at work supporting their local air ambulance charity.

We were honoured to accept a generous £500 cheque from the club, which will go directly toward saving lives across the region. Thank you for your amazing efforts – keep up the fantastic work, team!

Eight-ball

Next stop, Cumbria! Over at the Britannia in Carlisle, pub-goers took on a pool tournament in memory of Mr. Dodd’s son, raising an impressive £214!

Not a bad way to spend an evening at the pub, right? A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated and helped make a difference.

Bond, James Bond

We can’t resist a themed party! Any excuse to dress to the nines and sip on martinis, right?

Kaims Country Park in Bamburgh hosted an epic family fun day, followed by a glamorous James Bond Night, complete with cakes and casino games – talk about the perfect combo!

Word on the grapevine is they’ve already raised an incredible £1,300, and they have plenty more funds to bring in, too.

Transformers: Cumbria edition

In September, over 150 tractors and trucks gathered for Cumbria’s Charity Convoy.

The route even took drivers past our airbase in Langwathby, so our critical care team had the chance to cheer them on, and even flash the lights of the critical care car.

Fundraiser Mieke said: “It’s always quite humbling to hear how strongly these people support ‘their’ air ambulance”.

Ready, aim, FIRE

£5,000 – now that’s an impressive amount to raise!  This year, Whitfield Clay Shoot has really hit the bullseye, generating this incredible total through various fundraising activities.

Keep up the amazing work – you’re making a real difference.

Support from Harrogate

We were delighted to see support coming in from Harrogate and District’s Growing Healthy Children.

After the grand tour of our HQ, critical care cars, and helicopter, the trio were shocked to find out we are an entirely charity-funded organisation.

We’re looking forward to exploring the many ways they can support our service going forward.

A ray of sunshine

The small village of Sandford, with just 40 houses, is now home to some impressively tall sunflowers…

Wondering why? It’s all thanks to residents Paul and Nikki McDowall, who organised a sunflower-growing competition!

When we say you can raise funds in weird and wonderful ways, we mean it – there’s potential in every activity!

The competition raised £380, leaving the village with beautiful blooms and the satisfaction of knowing they’ve helped save lives.

Hello, old friend!

We had the pleasure of inviting Ian and Nicky Jackson from Pendragon Rally to our airbase for a visit.

They presented us with a cheque for £1,000 and are keen to keep the support going in the months to come.

In fact, these two are old friends of our CEO, David – so it was a nice excuse for a little catch-up, too.

Creative for a cause

Who doesn’t love a spot of colouring, painting and creating? Especially when it’s able to generate a quid or two!

Some lovely ladies in the North East did exactly that – they generated £200 from getting crafty and selling their goodies.

Keeping families together

Our mission is to “keep families and communities together,” so when we hear about supporters celebrating the day we saved their life like it’s their birthday, it truly puts everything into perspective.

That’s exactly what Graeme and Debra did last month! They hosted a celebration at their local Bowling Club and raised an incredible £1,500 in the process. To top it all off, their nephew ran the Great North Run in our honour, adding an impressive £915 to the total.

A huge thank you to this amazing family for helping us continue to keep others together.

We’re certain there was plenty of behind-the-scenes fundraising happening as well! Every penny raised in September powers our critical care team’s life-saving missions.

We wonder if spooky season will bring some Halloween-themed fundraising activities… we can’t wait to see.
